OpenMoji is an attempt to develop the first comprehensive open-source emoji and icon library from a designers point of view.
OpenMoji started with the question “why the design community apparently leaves the design of the new visual emoji language only to the big tech companies GAFA?” and seem not to care how billions of people are perceiving those most viewed icons of all time. The Project was then initially developed as a semester course by Interaction and Communication Design students of the Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd.
